Indian Gospel Mission
FEEDING PROJECTS
LightForce International works in Chennai in partnership with Indian Gospel Mission (IGM). Through IGM LightForce provides food for vulnerable groups. These include lepers, gypsies, former sex workers and extremely poor low caste people.
TRAINING
LightForce partner IGM tailoring school provides training, counselling and food. At the end of the course beneficiaries receive a sewing machine. You could sponsor a new machine and table for one of these ladies for £70. A carpentry school provides vocational training for orphan children in Chennai.
CHILDRENS HOME
IGM accommodates orphans and vulnerable children on 3 sites providing them care and security, food, clothing and education. LightForce supporters assist with this project which currently benefits over 100 children who are without a home or loving, caring family. We provide opportunity for volunteers to spend time in Chennai assisting at the homes. See Volunteer page for more info.
SUSTAINABILITY
We have assisted IGM to purchase a flock of 111 sheep/goats for breeding. Income from the flock will provide IGM with a finance base for purchasing rice once the period of funding from LightForce has ceased. The project is also providing employment for two workers.
