Education For Life
Mombasa, Kenya
Our main partners in Kenya are Glyn and Jane Davies who run a charity called Education for Life.
Education for Life resulted from the vision of this dynamic young couple to do something to help the children of Timbwani village to the south of the city of Mombasa.
Initially Glyn & Jane sought sponsors from the UK to enable them to fund the education of needy children from the Timbwani community. Many of the children from Timbwani are sponsored by LightForce International supporters.
In 2002 LightForce International began to support children in a nursery project being run by Education for Life. This was to give children under 5 some basic knowledge to allow them to pass the entrance exam and gain access to full time education.
Education for Life made a major decision in 2003 to build its own school as they were not able to use the other schools in the area due to questionable financial practices.
In January 2004 a magnificent new school was opened which houses 300 children. In addition there is a home for 25 orphan children.
Education for Life currently has 120 children in nursery, 300 in primary school and almost 200 in secondary school. Each child receives a wholesome meal every lunchtime as well as a good education.
