| Yugoslavia
has been, and still is today a multi-ethnic nation.
It has been the scene of many ethnic uprisings,
often leading to war, and subsequently many of
it's former republics have become independent
- Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia-Hercegovina, Macedonia,
and the province of Kosova. Yugoslavia is now
made up of Serbia & Montenegro.
Despite the many problems - trading sanctions,
high inflation, black market, strikes, power cuts
- the population of Yugoslavia have somehow managed
to retain their national pride. However over the
past 12 years the general standard of living has
dropped drastically and many people are struggling
to make ends meet.
LightForce International has been supporting Pau
& Sandrine Pasula in Vrsac, northeast Serbia since
1991.
Early in 2001 LightForce, in partnership with
Pau & Sandrine, bought an acre of land just outside
the town of Vrsac to use as a campsite for Children's
Camps. We sent tents, beds, linen, tables, benches,
flysheets to make a dining area and a bouncy castle.
Camps are now being run each summer for over 300
children.
